Free Human movement is necessary for the success of 2030 SDG: Dr. A. Didar Singh

A multi stakeholder Round Table Discussion on Mainstreaming Migration organised by ILO, FICCI, IOM at FICCI Federation House, New Delhi on 30 August 2016 to discuss on the issue of migration vis a vis 2030 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Agenda.  The 2030  SDG is an ambitious and broad range of plan of action adopted by 193 UN members. One of the key areas is related to “migration”. Speaking at the occasion, Dr. A. Didar Singh, Secretary General of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), mentioned that globalisation is not a new phenomenon, rather it is happening since 5000 years. One of the key drivers of this globalisation has always been “human movement”. However, the intensity of globalisation and human movement has grown last few decades.  He said Interdependence is most important of today’s globalised world.
